"Around the World" in Eiderstedt

As the saying goes, the world is a village. Here on the Eiderstedt Peninsula, that’s taken quite literally, because nestled between Garding and Vollerwiek lies a small village called Welt. Green meadows and lush farmland invite you to relax amid unspoiled nature. Eight informational signs serve as historical guides through this tranquil village, whose surroundings are among the oldest settlement areas in the southern Eiderstedt Marshes. But the here and now is also worth a closer look—for example, at the little shop owned by Reinhard Wolter, the last antique dealer in Eiderstedt.

We’ll tell you what there is to discover in Welt!

Depending on the season, you can enjoy the sight of green meadows, flower-lined paths, and lush farmland while taking a walk or bike ride through Welt. Information signs located on various buildings and in public squares serve as historical guides through the small village. Nearby towns, such as the idyllic town of Garding or the village of Vollerwiek with its green swimming beach, are easily accessible by bike.

Rungholt Studio

Sometimes socially critical, sometimes inspired by architecture—always spontaneous and dynamic: The works of artist Wolfgang Gross-Freytag surprise with their versatility and encourage viewers to see the familiar in a new light. Also worth seeing are the lovely Icelandic horses grazing in front of his studio. So, when are you going to stop by?
