Every day, numerous long-distance trains operated by Deutsche Bahn AG travel to Schleswig-Holstein. From here—and also from many locations outside this northern federal state—you can reach our stops at St. Peter-Ording Süd (local district "Dorf") and Ording directly every hour with just one transfer in Husum.
Deutsche Bahn’s Mobility Service Center (MSZ) handles all the necessary arrangements for your accessible trip and answers your questions about suitable trains, platform heights, station accessibility, or required minimum transfer times. The MSZ staff will be happy to assist you with travel planning and with arranging assistance for boarding, transferring, and alighting during your trips with Deutsche Bahn.

Many accommodations have parking spaces in front that are also suitable for unloading wheelchairs, etc. Please check with your landlord regarding the parking situation at your accommodation.

Nestled in the heart of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park lies the 12-kilometer-long and up to 2-kilometer-wide sandy beach of St. Peter-Ording. Due to vegetation, wind, and weather conditions, obstacles caused by wet conditions and sand drifts may occur year-round at all beach access points. Please keep this in mind when visiting the beach. Thank you for your understanding!
Here at the Tourismus-Zentrale St. Peter-Ording, you can rent various beach wheelchairs to explore the beach even off the wooden walkways.
Wooden boardwalks lead directly to the beach at all five Bad areas and can be easily accessed by wheelchair, walker, or on foot. The pier at the Bad area also connects the Bad area to the town center and the promenade, leading across the salt marshes and through the dunes to the beach.

Yes, we offer beach wheelchairs—both electric and manual—for rent at the beaches. Reservations can be made by phone at 04863 / 999 0, in person at our tourist information offices, or conveniently through our online store at https://www.st-peter-ording.de/erlebnis-shop/erlebnisse. Both options are listed under the “Mobility” filter.
After making a reservation, the wheelchairs can be picked up at the Ording beach crossing. The street wheelchair is then usually left at the pickup point or with the lifeguards.
During the season
At Ording Beach, we rent out manual beach wheelchairs (15 euros per day) and electric beach wheelchairs (30 euros per day) from May through September, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The electric beach wheelchair has a seat height of 68 cm and a seat width of 63 cm (ground clearance approx. 22 cm).
An attendant is required.
During the off-season
Starting in the fall, you can rent a manual beach wheelchair through the Bad Tourist Information Office (an accompanying person is required).
Yes, there are additional public restroom facilities at the Bad, Ording, and Ording Nord beach areas that are accessible to people with disabilities. These are located on the platforms leading to the stilt houses and can be reached by beach wheelchair via a ramp.
At the beach crossings in Böhl (year-round) and Ording (April through October), as well as at the Köhlbrand beach crossing (year-round) between Ording and Bad, there are accessible restrooms located before you drive onto the beach.
