See Eiderstedt

Where the North Sea Sets the Pace

Sometimes all it takes is a glance over the dike—at the light on the mudflats, at the vast expanse between the sky and the horizon, at a stilt house that seems to float above the beach. In Eiderstedt, the North Sea becomes a stage—for art and culture, for nature and stories, for music, encounters, and open-air events.

Art Meets the Coastal Landscape

Eiderstedt is a place of extraordinary views—of delicate details and vast horizons. The landscape itself becomes a canvas: the mudflats as the tides ebb and flow, the colors of the salt marshes, the clean lines of the stilt houses, and the warm evening light.

Nature Becomes an Experience

The Most Beautiful Stage

The Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, is Eiderstedt’s grand stage. Here, nature itself takes center stage. The sea ebbs and flows. Birds rest in the salt marshes. The wind shapes the dunes. And on the beach, you’ll find space for movement, tranquility, and new thoughts. The damp sand beneath your feet, the soft crunch of the mudflats, and the calls of the seabirds create an atmosphere of complete tranquility. The
flora and fauna of the Wadden Sea are particularly worthy of protection. That’s why we place great importance on a mindful visit. On guided mudflat hikes, you’ll get to know the fascinating flora and fauna. Here, you’ll encounter the “Small Five” of the Wadden Sea and understand why this habitat is so important for our global climate.

Through the Three Climate Zones

Our Tip

The three climate zones in St. Peter-Ording are divided into surf zones, salt marshes, and forests: experiencing them all together is a real highlight.
Scattered throughout Eiderstedt, you’ll find various observation decks. On a walk from the Maleens Knoll observation tower down to the water’s edge, you can explore all three climate zones of St. Peter-Ording and enjoy unforgettable views.
