Since 2008, the Dünen-Hus has served as the Tourismus-Zentrale St. Peter-Ording’s event venue for various concerts, cabaret evenings, and theater performances. In addition, the Dünen-Hus is used for conferences, seminars, workshops, and informational evenings, and is also available for rent.
We can provide you with information about the event space, the indoor and outdoor stages, the seating arrangements, and our sound and lighting systems.

Here on the Eiderstedt Peninsula and in St. Peter-Ording, we are committed to sustainable tourism and sustainable development to ensure the quality of life in our community for years to come. Fair trade, national park partnerships, climate alliances, and environmental protection are just some of the issues we address on a daily basis.
The Local Tourism Organization (LTO) of St. Peter-Ording / Eiderstedt Peninsula, including Tönning and Friedrichstadt, has successfully completed the TourCert certification process and has been authorized to use the title and seal “Sustainable Destination” since June 2025.
This award recognizes tourist destinations that meet strict environmental, social, and economic standards in accordance with the guidelines of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The TourCert seal is the first certification in the German-speaking world that considers a destination as a whole and involves all tourism stakeholders.
Local businesses that demonstrably promote more sustainable tourism development and serve as ambassadors in the region are recognized as “Sustainable Destination Partners” within the partner network.

Since April 2023, the Tourismus-Zentrale St. Peter-Ording has been part of the Excellence Initiative for Sustainable Destinations. This initiative brings together destinations across Germany that are actively promoting sustainability, so they can work together and learn from other pioneers. The Excellence Initiative aims to enable participants to overcome challenges together and develop shared, outstanding ideas and projects that promote and spread the implementation of sustainability in German tourism.
We have been a National Park Partner since 2016. The goal of this partnership is to protect the unique and special natural environment of the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, and to enable guests visiting the North Sea region of Schleswig-Holstein to experience it firsthand. To this end, partners meet defined criteria that guarantee an environmentally friendly and sustainable vacation featuring experiences in the unique natural surroundings of the Wadden Sea National Park.
Every July, we celebrate the HÆDI – #17Goals Unplugged festival in St. Peter-Ording. This summer weekend is filled with music, good cheer, and a commitment to protecting our precious coastal region.
The festival deliberately puts sustainability front and center, drawing on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We focus on interactive, hands-on activities, and regional exhibitors demonstrate how everyone can contribute to positive change in their daily lives.
Since May 2022, St. Peter-Ording has been recognized as a Fairtrade Community, and as early as October 2023, we were awarded the title of “Capital of Fair Trade.” The steering committee is very active in engaging both residents and local businesses in the journey toward fair trade and greater global responsibility; it also supports both local schools in their efforts to become Fairtrade Schools and the daycare center in its efforts to become a Fair Trade Daycare Center.
Following a unanimous decision by the municipal council in December 2021, the municipality of St. Peter-Ording joined the "Globally Sustainable Municipality" project and will, going forward, align all of its decisions, products, investments, and purchases.
The activities of the municipality of St. Peter-Ording in politics and administration, as well as in all affiliated municipal enterprises, shall always and everywhere be in harmony with the 17 Goals and their 169 economic, social, and environmental targets. The new Local Development Concept (2023) and the Sustainability Strategy (2024) are already fully aligned with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Climate protection and climate adaptation are constant companions for us, and not just because of our unique geographic location.
Membership in the North Frisia Climate Alliance is therefore a logical step for us—a partnership with positive benefits for both sides.
Together, we share the goal of advancing climate protection as a team effort, including through networking, supporting, and mobilizing local stakeholders.
No more trash—we’re declaring war on disposable cups! Through our partnership with the RECUP reusable cup system, we’re committed to keeping our town clean and environmentally friendly. At many locations, you can borrow a RECUP cup for a 1-euro deposit and return it later.
The big advantage for our guests: RECUP has over 20,000 stations throughout Germany. Local businesses are financially supported by the municipality.
For us in St. Peter-Ording—and also with regard to the Eiderstedt Peninsula—sustainability plays a central role in strategy development, in specific measures, and in their implementation.
This is evident in the Tourism Development Concept (2017), the Infrastructure Development Plan (evaluated in 2019), and the Beach Development Concept (2018).
Our new Local Development Concept (2023) and the corresponding Sustainability Strategy (2024) are also based on the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
