Embark on a journey through time to explore the history of St. Peter-Ording and the peninsula! At the Landschaft Eiderstedt Museum—which sees itself as the long-term memory of the local landscape—the peninsula’s past comes to life, showcasing its regional characteristics and its exposed location by the sea. Housed in a picturesque, thatched-roof longhouse dating from 1752, the interactive exhibition features historically significant objects from past centuries and uses themed displays to illustrate the rapid development of the seaside resorts of St. Peter-Ording and Ording—from poorhouses to beach paradises.

Eiderstedt Landscape Museum
Amber Museum
Passionately compiled by Boy Jöns over the course of more than 50 years, the North Sea Amber Museum in St. Peter-Ording houses an impressive collection of this fossilized resin. Display cases and informational panels tell the fascinating history of amber. Amber workshops and polishing classes are also offered for small groups and families. A must-see for all amber lovers.
The Peters House
Haus Peters, located in the picturesque village of Tetenbüll, is a place steeped in nostalgia. It houses a former general store where residents of the surrounding villages once gathered to shop and chat. Today, this small museum is likely the oldest country general store in Schleswig-Holstein still preserved at its original location, and its well-restored, original Biedermeier furnishings are definitely worth a look.
Historic Warehouse
The warehouse, which has been a listed historic building since 1965, is an impressive landmark at the Tönning harbor. The enormous dimensions of the former warehouse—77.5 meters long and four stories high—bear witness to its former importance as a western hub connecting the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. The first floor houses an exhibition on the history of the port town of Tönning. Here you’ll discover many fascinating topics, ranging from prehistory to the industrialization of the 20th century.
