Kitebuggy Riding

Sun, beach, ocean, freedom, and plenty of fresh air—all while letting the power of the wind carry you along—that’s kitebuggy riding! The three-wheeled vehicle is steered with the feet on the front fork and zooms across the sand at breakneck speeds of up to 100 km/h. There’s a seat for the rider between the rear axle and the front wheel. The buggy is propelled by a kite that the rider can steer.

Kitebuggy Area in SPO

On the beach at St. Peter-Ording, licensed kitebuggy riders are permitted to ride their buggies in a designated area right in the heart of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

The German Parakart Association Kitesailing e.V. (GPA), in cooperation with the National Park Authority and the Tourismus-Zentrale St. Peter-Ording, has established a suitable riding area. The area is located on the sandbank between Ording and Bad.

You can obtain the required rider’s license by taking a licensing exam at the St. Peter-Ording Kitebuggy School.

The often strong westerly winds and the immediate proximity to the North Sea provide ideal wind conditions in SPO.
