Our Erlebnis-Promenade is one of the most popular attractions in St. Peter-Ording. It stretches from the Dünen-Hus in the north, along the dike, and ends at the Erlebnis-Hus in the south. The Erlebnis-Promenade frequently references the Wadden Sea National Park and appeals to young and old alike with nature-inspired rest areas, lawns for sunbathing, fitness equipment, viewing platforms, and a biotope near the Erlebnis-Hus.
The highlights are our five different themed playgrounds, which feature the “Big Five” of the Wadden Sea. Look forward to up-close encounters with the white-tailed eagle, harbor seal, porpoise, gray seal, and sturgeon!

Start with a warm-up on the stepper before building muscle with pull-ups, butterfly exercises, and more. The Promenade’s fitness and motor skills area offers workout enthusiasts eighteen different outdoor pieces of equipment for healthy exercise in the fresh air. On top of that, your immune system gets a boost, and your body gets a supply of vitamin D from the extra sunlight.
Discover the animals and plants of the national park with all your senses! The Wadden Sea World Heritage Nature Experience Center is located in front of the dike, south of the pier, and is open to anyone who wants to experience the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site and learn more about it.
The nature trail is located on the Erlebnis-Promenade, between the Strandklinik and the Erlebnis-Hus. Here, a wooden path leads you through the beautiful natural surroundings of St. Peter-Ording.
Attention, adventurous kids! Discover the Big Five of the Wadden Sea with our little safari cars on our Erlebnis-Promenade.
You’ll find our Dünen-Hus on the pier plaza in the local district "Bad"—near the pier. The Dünen-Hus marks the start of the Erlebnis-Promenade, so to speak. There, you’ll find a variety of events for all ages.
Our Erlebnis-Hus is the family stilt house in St. Peter-Ording and our first stilt house on land. The Erlebnis-Hus is located at the end of the Erlebnis-Promenade and stands out thanks to its unique architecture. Come visit us and enjoy a spectacular view, a Spiele-Hus with a slide, an information center with a SPO shop and a workspace, and a large outdoor playground.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, State Secretary Dr. Thilo Rohlfs of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transportation, Labor, Technology, and Tourism presented the grant award notification for approximately 4.15 million euros in funding for the first construction phase of the promenade.
The funding came from the state’s economic development program, using funds from the Joint Task for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures (GRW). We thus received 70% in earmarked funding for the actual eligible expenses incurred, which had been calculated at just under 6 million euros at the time.
On Friday, June 4, 2021, Minister President Daniel Günther officially presented the grant notification in the amount of 7.6 million euros in funding for the construction of the intergenerational “Erlebnis-Hus” to the municipality of St. Peter-Ording, represented by Mayor Jürgen Ritter, Council Chair Boy Jöns, and Tourism Director Katharina Schirmbeck.
The structure of the Erlebnis-Hus consists of approximately 80% Siberian larch and wooden structural elements of various dimensions. From a structural standpoint, a complex system comprising a reinforced concrete core (stairwell) and various bracing elements was chosen for reinforcement.
Inspired by the stilt houses on the beach and driven by considerations of sustainability and aesthetics, wood—a renewable resource—was deliberately chosen as the primary material. To create a sense of transparency and provide views across multiple floors down to the salt marshes, large window facades were installed, lending the building a certain lightness.
On a total area of approximately 3,600 m², complete with outdoor play and sports facilities, a delicate wooden structure with cube-shaped elements serving various functions was created. The total height, including the outdoor slide, is 20.60 m.
The investment volume amounted to approximately 9.5 million euros.
