In addition to the various administrative and specialized departments, the IT and accounting teams are also part of TZ. While the IT team handles, among other things, the organization’s information technology and provides support for various technical areas, our accounting team always keeps a close eye on the numbers. How much money has the marketing team spent on online campaigns? How much went toward events, games, fun, and parties? And what about our revenue? The accounting team knows exactly where every cent goes and uses this information to prepare various financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
Introducing the Tourism Office
Whether at our tourist information centers, on the beach, at the Erlebnis-Hus, at the municipal works yard, at city hall, on the Erlebnis-Promenade, or even at the Dünen-Therme:
The team at the Tourismus-Zentrale St. Peter-Ording—which we also call TZ for short—is always out and about in town. Anyone who’s ever visited St. Peter-Ording knows exactly what we’re talking about.
With nearly 160 employees, the TZ has many faces, represents many personalities, and encompasses many different areas of responsibility. Every department and every team member is crucial to meeting our goals and requirements. We owe every offering, every service, and every success to the fact that we at the Tourism Office always work hand in hand and support one another as best we can.
On this page, we’d like to introduce part of our team—from the administrative departments all the way up to the Director of Tourism.
Our Management Team
Assistant to the Director of Tourism
Sarah Dohle
As the assistant to the Director of Tourism, I am responsible for handling phone calls, managing Katharina Schirmbeck’s schedule, and handling her travel arrangements. In addition, my responsibilities include supporting cross-departmental projects, preparing for meetings, handling organizational and administrative tasks, and standing in for the Mayor’s assistant.
My particular strengths include: organizing, working under pressure, and—above all—staying cheerful and encouraging others to see the positive side of things.
Motto: Do it before you regret not having done it!

Hi, my name is Carolin Kühn, and I head the Tourism Department at the SPO Tourism Center. My department is responsible for the divisions “Sales & Marketing,” “Guest and Provider Services,” and “Events and Experiences,” as well as the support units “LTO,” “Sustainability,” and “Project Coordination.” Together with my many colleagues, I work to ensure that our guests have the best time of their year here. Together, we bridge the gap from inspiration, through convenient booking of accommodations and experiences, all the way to fantastic vacation events, additional services, and unforgettable SPO memories.
What I’m particularly good at: taking on a wide variety of challenges and working with my team to develop effective and sustainable solutions. In doing so, I keep all needs in mind.

Since we manage the booking portal for vacation rentals, we also serve as the point of contact for our hosts and are responsible for the visitor’s tax and registration procedures. In addition, we handle merchandising and mail.
What I’m particularly good at: juggling multiple tasks, taking a solution-oriented approach, and going above and beyond for our guests and hosts with genuine care.
Motto: Achieving the best results through passion and team spirit.
Head of the Events & Experiences Department
Janina Domann
Tourism
“We don’t remember days. We remember moments!” As the head of the Events & Experiences department, my goal is to create exactly these moments. Whether at the Dünen-Hus, the Spiele-Hus, on the Buhne, at the beach, or even in some truly remote spots. Together with my team, we develop the recreational program for an adventure-filled vacation.
I’m especially good at keeping my cool during stressful moments—and I almost never lose my good mood in the process.
Motto: Just do it.

I’m particularly good at fostering harmony, inspiring people’s enthusiasm for Eiderstedt, and bringing people together on Eiderstedt.

Dünen-Therme
Head of the Health and Wellness Center Department
Wiebke Weber
Dünen-Therme
As the director of the health and wellness center, I work closely with my team, dedicating myself wholeheartedly to ensuring that the organization, coordination, and ongoing development of the entire facility are handled reliably and with care. Our goal is to offer guests at the Dünen-Therme a high-quality, cohesive experience—supported by clear structures, smooth operations, and a strong team spirit. Because only when everything is well-organized behind the scenes can true relaxation, ease, and well-being flourish in the foreground.
I’m particularly good at: organizing complex workflows, thinking processes through to their logical conclusion, and developing pragmatic solutions to continuously refine our existing offerings and keep them vibrant together with my team.
Favorite quote: “Quality comes from taking joy in what you do.”
Administration & Finance

Matthias Stanzel

In the Administration and Finance Department, we serve as an internal service provider for the entire Tourism Office. Head of the Human Resources Department
Petra Jöns
Administration
As the head of the Human Resources department, I work with my two colleagues to handle all HR-related matters for the employees of the Tourismus-Zentrale St. Peter-Ording. We’ve all been working in this field for a long time, really enjoy interacting with the other team members, and are happy to offer them advice and support.
Public Works Yard
Department Management
Susanne Wolf
Public Works Department & Technical Projects
I head the Public Works Department, which consists of three divisions: Trades, Gardening and Landscaping, and Building Services. It’s a large team of dedicated employees who are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of municipal and tourist properties in town and on the beach: This includes, for example, the green spaces and public areas in town, the Erlebnispromenade, the playgrounds, the stilt houses, and the Dünen-Therme. My area of responsibility also includes the construction projects of the Tourism Center.
Our shared goal is to ensure that both visitors and locals feel at home in St. Peter-Ording.
Head of the Crafts Department
Jürgen Reimers
Public Works Yard
My responsibilities, along with those of my colleagues, include repairing and building our stilt houses, wooden walkways, platforms, observation towers, shelters, staircases, and so on. On top of that, we maintain the playgrounds, trash cans, benches, and so on—we also keep all the windows and doors at the TZ in working order (I’ve never actually counted them). Sometimes we’re assigned tasks outside our own department, such as collecting fees at the beach or working on beach chairs.
One thing I’m particularly good at is: persistently focusing on tasks, whether at work or in my free time (in a positive way).
Motto: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Head of the Horticulture & Landscape Architecture Department
Andreas Reichardt
Public Works Yard
As the Gardening & Landscaping Department, my team and I are dedicated to serving our guests and local residents.
Our scope of work includes the maintenance of streets, farm roads, sports fields, and the promenade. Of course, our responsibilities also include winter maintenance, lawn care, playground maintenance, parking lots, tree and path inspections, building maintenance, and setting up and taking down structures for municipal events. In addition, we maintain approximately 60 hectares of forest.
My team and I carry out our varied tasks with the goal of caring for the town of St. Peter-Ording and making it a place where everyone feels at home.
Motto: “Focus on the solution, not the problem”
Head of the Building Services Department
Bernd Hoppe
Public Works Yard
As head of the Building Services Department, I am responsible—together with my team—for the maintenance of all machinery, monitoring and regulating water quality at the Dünen-Therme, and repairing water slides, parking meters, and parking barriers. Of course, we are also on call at all times to resolve technical issues in case of an emergency.
What I’m particularly good at: coming up with creative solutions on the spot, without any preparation.
What inspires me: When the winds of change blow, some build windmills and others build walls.
Beach, Parking & Digitalization
Department Management
Nils Stauch
Beach, Parking & Digitalization
The Beach, Parking & Digitalization Department focuses primarily on all tourism-related matters at the beach in St. Peter-Ording. The department is divided into the Lifesaving and Beach Services divisions. In addition, the Tourism Center’s parking areas are being further developed, including through new concepts such as camera-based parking systems and innovative ideas. Another area of focus is digitalization across the entire organization, with the goal of further expanding services for our guests and residents and optimizing processes.
My particular strengths include: structuring content, finding solutions, driving initiatives forward, and staying focused
Motto: “Can’t” doesn’t exist. Maybe it won’t work this way, but it will work another way.
Head of the Emergency Medical Services Department
Dennis Köhne
Beach, Parking & Digitalization
At the Tourism Office, I work as the beach supervisor for the Ording beach section and also head the Rescue Services Department, focusing on beach safety, swimming areas, and nature conservation.
One of my strengths is that I’m good at keeping a cool head in stressful situations.
Motto: Just do it—it might turn out well!
Head of the Beach Services Department
Phillip Marggraf
Beach, Parking & Digitalization
I am the beach section manager for the “Bad” section and am responsible for safety on that section of the beach and for the safety of beachgoers. Of course, I’m also the first point of contact for any issues. As the head of beach services, I oversee beach chair rentals, beach shuttle service, and beach parking.
I’m especially good at: keeping track of everything and always remaining friendly and respectful

One Team, Many Faces
Together for St. Peter-Ording
In addition to the department heads and staff offices, there are, of course, many faces behind the TZ team, and all of them would undoubtedly deserve a spot on this page. Unfortunately, with nearly 160 employees, that’s simply impossible. Our team gallery showcases more members of the SPO team and offers a glimpse into the daily lives of our employees.
All of this is us. All of this is the TZ.
In the end, it always comes down to the team. Without a good team, success is meaningless, and your job is just a job.
