My work spans generations. [...] It's certainly touching to have such a long-standing connection.
A true SPO everyday hero

Christoph

Christoph Jensen loves and lives for music like no one else. In his role as cantor and organist, the 65-year-old thrives and manages to captivate both locals and visitors alike with his music.
Through his choir rehearsals, music lessons, and the concerts he organizes, Christoph brings life to the town and creates a cultural scene that many locals can no longer imagine St. Peter-Ording without—just as they can’t imagine the town without Christoph himself.

With great passion and his calm, friendly manner, he makes the hearts of music lovers and the people of SPO beat faster.

Fun fact about Christoph

Christoph designed the spire of the wooden bell tower next to St. Peter's Church himself.

More about Christoph

Musicians with a zest for life

Although it was never his intention to stay in St. Peter-Ording for long, let alone settle down here, Christoph came to St. Peter-Ording in 1983 for professional reasons. Today, almost exactly 40 years later, the Husum native still lives and works here. You could also say that, without meaning to, Christoph Jensen came to St. Peter-Ording to stay.

Christoph, who is a cantor and organist, is grateful that he gets to pursue his passion—music—as a career. By now, the 65-year-old is known not only to locals; visitors also come to the church to listen to his unique music.

Christoph himself loves it when St. Peter-Ording is bustling and full of life. He has already witnessed many events in SPO. One very special event remains close to his heart to this day: the construction of the new organ in 1999, which he had the privilege of accompanying at the time. For him, it’s an important part of SPO’s history.

As a music teacher and director of various choirs, he teaches everyone from children as young as 4 to people who have already celebrated their 100th birthdays. Through music, he brings locals and visitors together and fosters intergenerational connections.

But Christoph doesn’t just have an open ear for music—his fellow residents and the people of SPO can always count on him, too.

That’s Christoph. A true everyday hero of SPO.
